For our Pelotonia fundraiser we are selling DeFeet CS Aireator 6" single cuff cycling socks with an open mesh weave instep for breathability and moisture wicking. This sock has a close fit in performance cycling shoes.
I first committed to ride in Pelotonia when my husband David was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. My first Pelotonia ride was in 2016. I rode in David’s memory and in honor of many friends that were survivors or that were currently in the fight. I ride each year for all of them. I put their names on my jersey so they can help me along the way. Sadly, names are added to my jersey each year and I’ve lost my father in law and one of my dearest friends to this horrible disease. This year I asked a friend if I could put her name on my jersey and her response was, “I get to ride again!” She will ride with me each year, along with so many others, until we reach our ONE GOAL!
While working at NetJets, I volunteered to make Gatorade at the Hartford Square in 2015 and 2016, as I thought this cause was so worthwhile. I noticed the riders, many older than me, working a lot harder and raising more money than me. Given my enjoyable bike riding in my youth I thought "I can do this!". I joined up with Huntington through a friend, but met teamCOPC in training. I met so many sincerely involved and riders passionate about the cause. Since then, via learning how to be an avid road biker, I participate in several events per year, but the highlight and focal point of all of this biking is Pelotonia. Shorter rides are easy, but Pelotonia and cancer research deserves as much as I am willing to give for fundraising and training. I have ridden in Pelotonia five years now, making the 100 mile ride twice.
